Kerouac’s Lost Movie
Ever since On the Road was published, sporadic attempts to bring it to the screen have come to nothing. Hollywood producers evidently saw the book’s lack of a storyline with a limiting three-act structure as a drawback. By the time Jack wrote On the Road in 1951, after five years of false starts, he was already in rebellion against conventional storytelling.

Photographer Chuck Kimmerle moved to Casper two years ago. It didn’t take long before he started making a name for himself. Kimmerle is an accomplished photojournalist. But since moving to Wyoming from North Dakota in 2010, he has worked as a freelance photographer. His black and white landscapes of the northern plains and Rocky Mountains have been published in a number of prestigious photography magazines and will be subject of a new exhibit at the Nicolaysen Art Museum starting Friday. In this photo, he captures a receding rain storm on the prairie. Read the profile of Kimmerle in this Friday’s edition of Weekender. - Ben Storrow.
